Wynyard is a small town with a population of around 5,000 people. It was originally established as a Fishing Port. Wynyard has has excellent accommodation facilities. Burnie Airport is located in Wynyard. The Airport is the largest on the North West Coast and offers several flights daily to Melbourne.
Table Cape would be the most popular landmark in Wynyard. The Wynyard Tulip Farm and the historic lighthouse can be seen from the top of Table Cape. Another attraction, Fossil Bluff is where Australia's oldest marsupial fossil was found.
Trout, Fly and Sea Fishing can all be done at Wynyard. Attractions include - Gutteridge Gardens, situated near the centre of Wynyard. Wonders of Wynyard Exhibition Centre is a must see for visitors. Visitors should take a walk along the banks of the Inglis River to Fossil Bluff, or to West Wynyard. Wynyard Wharf is a popular meeting spot.
