Amongst Hobart's southern suburbs are - Mt. Nelson, Sandy Bay and Taroona. Sandy Bay is one of Hobart's more upmarket suburbs, and is also the home of the University of Tasmania's biggest facility.
Australia's first casino [Wrest Point Casino], is located near the University in Sandy Bay. The Royal Yacht Club is also located close to this area. This is the area of Tasmania that hosts the End of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race each year.
The States largest Senior Secondary College is located at Mount Nelson.
Adjoining the Signal Station is Truganini Reserve , which has a walking track to Taroona.
Taroona is one of Hobart's outer suburbs, and features a model Tudor village and the Shot Tower.
