Richmond is about 20 mins drive from Hobart. It is the oldest historic town in Tasmania. This village is home to a number of historic firsts including the oldest bridge, the oldest Roman Catholic Church, and The Oldest Postal Building in Australia amongst other historic treasures.
Local shops sell goods that are unique to Tasmanian. There are many quality galleries and craft shops. The atmosphere of Richmond makes it one of the most popular visitor destinations in the state.
Besides the Richmond Bridge and Gaol, one of the most popular attractions is Old Hobart Town, a remarkable scale model of Hobart in the 1820's which is highly detailed and historically accurate.
