Orford is a small holiday resort town at the estuary of the Prosser River. Fantastic weather, fishing and scuba diving are popular. Boats can be hired for general boating or sea fishing expeditions.
Maria Island can be reached by ferry which leaves Orford four times a day. Sandstone from this area was quarried for use in buildings in Hobart and Melbourne. There are also walks along the beach or follow the convict trail along the local river.
Buckland is southeast of Orford. The Church of St. John the Baptist which has 14th Century stained glass windows. Have a picnic and see majestic views of Maria Island. The Sandspit Forest Reserve is also in the area.
