Mt. Wellington is 1271 metres high. It is a majestic backdrop for the city of Hobart. It is a short drive from Hobart. There is an observation and information centre on the summit. On a clear day it is said to be possible to see parts of the state over 100 km away.
On the way to the Mt. Wellington is the historic Cascade Brewery.
There are a number of walks varying in difficulty in the Wellington Park area. The road to the summit is fairly winding and is sometimes closed due to snow in winter.
