Evandale is Located off the Midlands Highway. Evandale with its Georgian buildings, reflects a long gone past, and it is one of Australia's best preserved colonial villages with arguanly the best example of a grand Georgian mansion - Clarendon House.
Many of the earlier buildings remain creating a perfectly preserved 19th Century streetscapes. The town is rich in historical associations. John Batman, founder of Melbourne, lived in the area while the father of Ned Kelly, Australia's most notorious bushranger, served time as a prisoner at Evandale. The beautiful township and countryside have also inspired famous artists including Tom Roberts and John Glover, who lived in the nearby Deddington area.
