Derby is a small town with a population of around 200.Derby is a tin mining centre 35 km east of Scottsdale. The mines peaked late last century and these days the region is mostly agricultural. There is a reconstructed mining town surrounding the Derby Tin Mine Museum which is the town's major tourist attraction.
Branxholm (close by) is also a former tin mining town. It offers tours of the local hop farms, and "sapphire safaris" (fossicking for gems). The Mt. Horror lookout provides scenic views.
In October each year Derby hosts the Derby River Derby, a series of aquatic events in the area.
