Deloraine has a population of more than 2000 and is situated on the Meander River in north-west Tasmania. Deloraine has spectacular views and is an excellent location for those interested in fly-fishing. Dairy farming is the areas major Agricultural business.
Waterfalls are popular in the Deloraine area.
Montana Falls, 9 km (6 mi) from town, are a 5-10 min walk into the bush.
Lobster Falls, 15 km (9 mi) west, are larger but a one-hour walk from the road.
Westmoreland Falls are located near the town of Caveside.
Meander Falls, 22 km (14 mi) from Deloraine but a further 2:30 walk from the car park.
Liffey Falls, one of the most famous waterfalls in Tasmania, are 29 km (18 mi) from town and a 20 minute walk from the car park.
Complimenting the dairying industry in Deloraine, are the local cheese manufacturers producing specialty English- and Swiss-style cheeses. Several art and craft galleries are also worth visiting in Deloraine.
