Cradle Mountain is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tasmania. Its an ideal place to Get away from all the stress of a busy life. The Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park, would be the most popular National Park in Tasmania.
The 160,000+ ha. park is a recognised World Heritage Area, also enveloping Lake St. Clair, a 200m (600 ft) deep glacial lake which is the deepest in the southern hemisphere.
Cradle Mountain boasts a variety of bushwalks, Some walks are easy while others are for the more adventurous. An easy walk circles Dove Lake and takes approximately 1 to 2 hours dependng on walking speed. The paths are mostly flat.
Walks go through various terrains. Visitors planning to take any of the longer walks are well advised to be prepared for changing weather conditions.
Besides camping, the main accommodation in the area is Cradle Mountain Lodge.
Over all, Cradle Mountain is one of the best Tasmanian destinations.
