Clarence is on the eastern shore of the Derwent River. It is a part of the Greater Hobart area.
Bellerive is also in the area. It is located at Kangaroo Bluff. It started life as a fort which was constructed in the 1870's. At the time it was feared the Crimean War would lead to a Russian invasion of Hobart. The fort was selected to overlook the Derwent River, and that makes the area an excellent location to see the river and Mt. Wellington.
Bellerive Oval is the location for international cricket matches held in Tasmania.
