Bruny Island - Tasmania
|
"...Bruny Island has a population of around 500 people. It is situated in the South East corner of the State..."

Bruny Island is a small town with a population of around 500. It is situated in the Kingborough municipality in southern Tasmania. It is accessible by ferry from Kettering, with sailings averaging 9 times daily.
The Aboriginal name for the island is Lunawannaaloona. It was sighted by Abel Tasman on his voyage to Tasmania in 1642.
The island is almost divided in two. "North Bruny" and "South Bruny" are connected by a narrow strip of land.
The Bligh Museum containing historical documents and sketches by Australia's early European explorers, and Aboriginal material, is well worth a visit. Inland is the Waterfall Creek State Reserve.
