Beauty Point is a tiny township originally established to serve The Beaconsfield Gold Mine community, it is the first deepwater port on the Tamar River and is the site of the Australian Maritime College
The town is a great starting point for exploring some of northern Tasmania's natural attractions. Greens Beach is popular along the north-west of Beauty Point and at the very mouth of the Tamar River. It has a scenic lookout and is a popular holiday town. Visitors to the area enjoy Garden Island which is immediately north of the town. It also has a scenic lookout and is known for its fishing.
There are several RACT rated accommodation facilities available in the area.
